Aaron Butler, MD

Dr. Butler is a board-certified physiatrist with fellowship training in spine medicine.

Dr. Butler completed medical school at the University of Rochester. After internship, he completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry) at the University of Washington. He then obtained further training in a spine medicine fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As a graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, which stresses the biopsychosocial model of care, Dr. Butler tries to frame a patient’s needs against their background, hopes and fears.  Hence as a physiatrist, Dr. Butler’s goal is to treat the whole person, restoring as much function as possible.

Dr. Butler’s professional interests include the diagnosis and treatment of neuropathic and musculoskeletal disorders.  He has training in electrodiagnostic medicine and is fellowship-trained  in the use of fluoroscopic guidance to perform minimally-invasive spine procedures as well as ultrasound-guidance to treat peripheral joint disorders. Dr. Butler’s interests also include intramuscular stimulation (trigger point needling), radiofrequency ablation, neuromodulation, and regenerative therapies such as platelet-rich plasma injections (PRP).

Dr. Butler is passionate about providing the highest quality of care to his patients. This includes a multidisciplinary approach utilizing other therapy teams such as occupational and physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, and psychology as well as coordinating with other healthcare teams including surgeons, primary care physicians, chiropractic care, vocational health, and case management services.

Outside of work, Dr. Butler is an avid outdoorsman and family man. He spends many of his weekends exploring the Pacific Northwest backcountry. He also enjoys watching and playing a variety of sports including volleyball, basketball, football, tennis, and disc golf. Dr. Butler also enjoys playing the guitar and performing for his kids.
